Hillcrest is incredibly pet-friendly. You’ll see people walking their dogs all the time through neighborhoods and city streets. Nate’s Point Dog Park sits on the southern edge of Hillcrest near Balboa Park: a 2.3-acre, fully fenced off-leash haven where your dog can run free 24/7.

Hillcrest is also famous for its rugged, scenic canyons that feel miles away from the city:

• Maple Canyon Trail: A local favorite! With a trailhead near the Quince Street Bridge, this dog-friendly trail winds under historic bridges and through a lush, shaded canyon. It’s an easy, 1-mile getaway perfect for an afternoon sniff-around.
